Amy Souleyrette
Amy Souleyrette grew up in Jefferson City, TN and graduated from Carson Newman with a degree in Foods & Nutrition. While at CN she thoroughly enjoyed being in musical theater productions. After completing her MS in Nutrition at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and moving to Oak Ridge, she also enjoyed being a part of many musical productions at the Oak Ridge Playhouse. It was during her years as a homeschool mother of three that Amy discovered another love: directing young people in plays. This led to her creating a homeschool theater group, Young People’s Theater, for Knoxville area homeschoolers. Young People’s Theater produced many plays from 2009 - 2024.
During her years directing YPT, Amy discovered theater provides numerous benefits to young people. These include mental exercise (through memorization of lines and physical movements), creative expression, and improved public speaking skills and confidence. In addition, theater production provides ample opportunities for working as a group towards a goal, for building friendships, and for discussing biblical truths - all this while having a lot of fun together! Amy is excited to bring theater opportunities to the students at Masters Monday.
