Bill Roop

My name is Bill Roop, owner of Bill Roop Photography. I have a beautiful wife and two grown daughters.  I was born and grew up in Monroe Michigan. At the age of 18 I joined the United States Air Force. That was when I was given my first professional style camera to capture all of my travels and endeavors. My love for photography grew quickly and I seemed to always have my camera in my hand.  In 2005, after 20 years of serving in the Air Force, I retired and we moved to Knoxville where I worked for Alstom Environmental and joined as a member at West Park Baptist Church. At West Park I served two years on the praise team before I felt led to join my wife as a high school youth leader. I had always enjoyed photographing my surroundings throughout my travels, but it was as a youth leader that I gravitated toward portraits. My love for photography exploded as I captured different events in the youth group. In 2010 I got my business license and Bill Roop Photography was born. In January of 2014 I had to make a choice, I chose photography. I quit my work at Alstom and continued as a full time photographer. I love my job and the chance it gives me to meet so many new people. I pray that it never gets old. There, that’s me and how it all got started.
